Is there an occupation that helps individuals through art in the medical field. I am currently in school for the nursing program because I want to help people, however, art is my passion. Is there a way to combine the two?

I'm a nurse, and I really can't see any way to combine the two. The most artistic thing i ever do is take baby pictures.

There are art therapy programs, although I don't know where. Also recreational therapists do some art work.

Nursing is great though, but if you're already having doubts, it's not a good sign.

How far along are you in the nursing program? Consider switching to an art therapy kind of program. I'm not quite sure how you could combine the two.

I am a nurse myself and I suggest you can join the pediatrics department. Art, colour and music therapy is used often by therapist and nurses to help children with problems (either psychological or physiological).

It is esp. used for children with developmental problems (like autism).

Another department that uses it is the geriatric department, pts. are usually those with mental retardation. You can ask for more information from your teachers or senior nurses, I am sure they would know more clearly the practice in your country.

Hope this helps.

Try a medical illustrator, I believe that's what they're called :) Do something along those lines.

Or you could do something like art therapy or something... Fight for people being allowed to do different artsy activities while recovering or something. Good luck :)
