Go to usps.com to find out. I think it varies from place to place. Some of the mailing houses such as "mailboxes etc" are open much later than the post office. They can weigh things and tell you the cheapest way to send them. They also sell postage.

It depends on the office. The quickest way to find hours of operation for offices in your area is to call 1-800-ASK USPS.
While you could go to a Mailboxes etc. type store, all they do is accept mail, drop it at the Post Office the next day it is open and add a surcharge for the service. It won't help your important item get to it's destination sooner or postmarked earlier.
