What made Pope to make such a comments to the Muslims???
Even the Pope John Paul II never ever made a comment like this and loved by most people while why did the present one did like this?
Also everyone believed that the Pope will be from a third world country but not yet? Will the christianity would accept his comments?
Will he take responsible for what christians are suffering due to his comments like this?

Each and every person should understand that Free speech means he is not allowed to insult a person, community or a religion. Like what Dutch did to the prophet muhammed.
Then the next thing should be clear is all the conflict in the present world is started by USA, UK and the un powerful UN

We should understand that we except that all the people in the world should respect our religion so why we all can't respect Islam, Buddhism and others. While all in the West get toghether to save Israel under any cost. Giving out our wealth to safe guard a nation which is caputring another country with the famous qoute of "Terrorism"

Why we all forget what we are doing in Iraq, Afghanistan.
What we are trying to do to North Korea, Iran and Syria.
What we did to Vietnam, Japan and many other and what are those people suffering. Just see the new born Japan and Vietnamese children; will u accept these.
Also please remember that when a person does a wrong don't take the religion to the justice but the person. We are now used to the words "Islamic terrorist" while if a non Islamic person did it then he is known as "terrorist". Don't take the religion to the courts.

It's sad to see the world is changing so dramatically.
First of all Muslims should understand to get the things done in a peaceful way. At the same time all the western people should not go and invade Iraq for oil and make an approval to create a country taking more than 70% of another peoples land.
Since the descrimination done to the Islamic World by the west the Islamic terrorism had grown up. My policy is that most of the present terrorism is grown up because of the discrimination.

He quoted something someone else said, not something that he said, if for some reason he didn't like Muslims, why on earth would he be the first Pope to go to a Muslim country and in doing so why would he intentionally say something bad! Never happen! Problem with the Muslims, they can do a lot of things against others, in words or actions but don't anyone say anything about them, like the big deal over the cartoon stuff, yet they can knock the Pope or the President or anyone or anything, double standard, won't really get any sympathy that way, you can't dish it out and not be able to take it no matter what, in religion or in every day life!

Actually free speech DOES mean any person can insult another person or religion. There is no right not to be offended. In a secular democracy, the government cannot prohibit the criticism of one religion.
Besides, mature religions can deal with insults and criticism without resorting to violence. Many Christians were insulted by the DaVinci Code and many Jews were insulted by The Passion - but no one from these groups bombed movie theaters or put fatwas on Dan Brown and Mel Gibson. Yet the Muslim world flips out over things like cartoons and 600 year old quotes.

You are right. Pope John Paul II never made any comments offensive to Islam. Mehmet Ali Agca shot him, though.
Will the Pope take responsibility for what Christians are suffering due to his comments??? Are you joking. The Muslims who killed the nuns, attacked the churches and whatever else they do are completely responsible for violence. How could you possibly believe that such violence is justified in response to some comment about Islam?
Oh, let me guess, you are a Muslim.

1. What was the purpose of a quote but to endorse that description? This is evident because he did not question it in any way. Till today he did not retract what he said or say he was sorry he uttered what proved to be explosive words.
2. A man who organises his own succession to the Papacy with a ruthless purge of potential dissidents and supervises the selection of Cardinals with great care leaves little to chance. .no doubt he knew what he was saying and why.
3. The statement issued by the Vatican "was not an apology" but a "pretext that the pope was quoting somebody else as saying so and so."
4. "We need the pope to admit the big mistake he has committed and then agree on apologizing, because we will not accept others to apologize on his behalf”

Islam allow violent to protect their religion, Islam allow man to have more than 1 wife, Islam hate other religion. If you married islam person, you must convert to islam because they hate other religion. Do you ever hear other religion burn down other religion place. Islam do, the religion alow to burn down all other religion place. It is happen many in Indonesia, Islam also allow the torture, violent, killing again other religion and pastor.
Do you see south park every night, some time the movie really insult Jesus Christ, but do you see Any Christian leader try to thread the south park producer or try to kill or shut down the program. Other Religion are teaching non violence. Even my beleive got insult but I beleive in God and my religion are not allow me to use violence.
Like this case Islam are using The Pope speech for an excuse to start the violent, Even The Pope already say sorry that are not suppose to be say because it is internal speech. I grow up in Indonesia and I hear a lot speech that are hate speech again other religion from the Islam leader. Because my parent house close to the mosque. So the moslem please do not just point at the Pope speech. I beleive our religion We dont hate you. YOU need to stop hating us (Which you can't because it is in your Al Quran) and stop talking nonsense. Please stop insulting other religion. No other religion like you that full of violent and hate

Fairy Dust---your answer was beautiful!
I think I'm beginning to understand why the Islamic world is always so bent out of shape and ready to fight someone.
It's all the pent up desires, wants, needs, emotions, etc. that they keep bottled up every day because of their religion! Holding all those things in, day after day, week after week, month after month---no wonder those guys are ready to fly a plane into a building! These poor saps are spoiling for a fight every day! And its because of their repressive faith!
Not that I excuse their behavior--I don't. But I do think that now I'm a little closer to understanding it.
I don't condone their behavior--I condemn it. I believe with all my heart that these problems won't end until America and Israel are gone or the muslims are gone. And I'd prefer it was the muslims who were eliminated.

It was about time a figure of authority said something like that! Btw, bombing churches in Pakistan will do no good. The western world is not allowed to say sh*t about islam without you freaking out and burning stuff, yet you can say whatever you feel like about christians or jews. Double standards have got to go! And you cannot blame the US and the UK for every problem in the world.

Read this article and judge for yourself
VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Al Qaeda militants in Iraq vowed war on "worshippers of the cross" and protesters burned a papal effigy on Monday over Pope Benedict's comments on Islam, while Western churchmen and statesmen tried to calm passions.
The statement by an umbrella group led by Iraq's branch of al Qaeda came after the Pontiff said on Sunday he was deeply sorry Muslims had been offended by his use of a medieval quotation on Islam and holy war.
"We tell the worshipper of the cross (the Pope) that you and the West will be defeated, as is the case in Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya," said a Web statement by the Mujahideen Shura Council.
"We shall break the cross and spill the wine ... God will (help) Muslims to conquer Rome ... (May) God enable us to slit their throats, and make their money and descendants the bounty of the mujahideen," said the statement, posted on Sunday on an Internet site often used by al Qaeda and other militant groups.

I don't know the details of exactly what the pope said & exactly what his apology was, but I had to comment on your mistaken view of free speech.
Just because someone has the right to say something, doesn't mean it is the right thing to say. Insults are obviously not a good thing, but as long as the comments are short of libel, insults fit within the rights of free speech.
The Danish cartoons were bad, insulting & designed to offend, but
free speech DOES mean someone has a right to mock anyone, and it also allows those mocked to protest & demonstrate. But I don't have a right to burn buildings down because I don't like something someone drew!
The KKK has a right to put out its filth. And we have a right to protest outside where the filth was printed, but if someone is caught burning down the printing press where the filth was printed, he would go to jail for arson!
