Longing for the unknown is perfectly normal.
I have never been to the desert, but have the same yearnings as you.
I suppose it signifies a need for change, and wanting to get away from it all.
If you are going to go to the sea, may I suggest the Caribbean, it's particularly lovely, as seas go.

Lure of the unfamiliar, is all. I was born in Derby, which is as far inland as you can get in England (really), yet I've always been fascinated by the sea.The Sea shore IS pleasant, the sound of waves serene - no great mystery as to why so many people like it. There is a theory that our species went through a semi-aquatic phase in our evolution (Do a google on Aquatic Ape Theory), although I'm not 100% convinced.
I now live in Bristol, and go to sea whenever I can, or take a bus to the coast to watch the waves.
And next Tuesday is international talk like a Pirate day - hope you are all prepared!

I know exactly how you feel. I once lived in Lusaka, Zambia.Lusaka was about 4 days hard drive away ( each day being about 10 hours driving ) from the nearest coast in Natal, South Africa, but oh boy, was it worth it - to be able to walk along the beach, swim in the sea and just sit and watch the waves. The experience just blew away the cobwebs of depression you can get by living inland.
If you can't live by the sea, try and visit it a few times a year, just for the day to renew your energy.

It sounds like you're tired of your life and want something exotic and romantic. Save up your money and plan an ocean vacation.!
There are MANY places that would fill your yearning. Maine came to mind when I read your question but the US is blessed with thousands of miles of shoreline so you have many choices. Go to Hawaii or the Caribbean if you want exotic and romantic.
**Don't go walking on the beach at night. You'll get mugged! Would you walk in your local parks at night? Same thing. Don't leave your common sense at home just because you're on vacation!

I live next to the sea and love the things you yearn for. The tranquillity of the quiet beach when the sea is calm and the immense power of the waves when a gale is blowing. Sorry if that doesn't make you feel any better.

Yep, even living a few miles inland bothered me. I think we become dependent on the calming effect of sea air. Or maybe you were a fisherman in a previous life? If you yearn for it that much, move. Maybe fate is pushing you that way for a reason.

Enjoying the natural beauty of the sea is tranquil & comforting .
The awe is something you never get over . I agree with that "yearning" aspect . It's happiness for free .

People are people.... nobody ever gets satisfied with what they have. i think that is is human nature to yearn for something that you do don't have and once get what you want, you will yearn for something different!
I used to live and worked in the city, then desired to live and work in an island in the Maldives for 3 1/2 years got bored. Went to live and work in Guernsey..... had enough again where's my next destination???? that remains to be seen!

It stems back from when you were in the womb.
The sound of fluid or water around you. I do alternative therapies with people and I use the music of the sea it always sends them to sleep.
