Well, I'm definitely not a Catholic, but Muslims don't have the right to get offended when they are blowing off (or slicing off) people's heads, and when THEY think it's right to kill people who don't follow Islam ("infidels"). There's no room for people who don't tolerate others. And they don't tolerate others.

I am a Christian too, (though not Catholic), and I do believe that the Pope should have more couth when speaking about other religions, especially because so many people follow his words syllable by syllable.

HOWEVER, I think that if one doesn't "believe" in the Pope or his religion, they should take his comments at face value. For example, I am not a Catholic, so the Pope is just another guy to me, and therefore, I don't really follow or believe in a lot of what he says or demands pertaining to life and other religions and habits and values.

Also, I have reported 'Reality' above me for abuse, for calling you an idiot. :)

Concidering that the evil that is islam wants to behead the pope, and all others they think are Christian. And the jews. And all others who refuse to bow to them. I think the pope is remarkably restrained.

I only know of the speach from the news. What has been quoted is historicaly acurate... islam has been spread and inforced at the point of the sword. Do not fall for that "we are accepting of other beliefs"... that is bull... those who refuse to follow islam are concidered less than second class and are to be treated as such. If islam ever gets full controle it will be just like Arabia is now. There will not be any "non-muslims"... except slaves.

The war against islam is a war to the death.

That's kind of like saying, "Your mother's a whore", and then immediately turning around and saying "Oh, oops sorry, my bad, I didn't really mean to hurt anyone's feelings." Give me a break. He knew exactly what he was saying and doing.

But, I also think the Muslims are over reacting, as usual.

Personally, I think the Muslim reaction kind of proves the point ... they are being pretty violent.
What did they expect? The CATHOLIC POPE was going to endorse their religion or something?
This is the former Archbishop in charge of dealing with HERETICS in his OWN CHURCH, for God's sake! He was the modern "Torquemada".
I think Papa was pretty dim to say that out loud, and pretty naive when he says he is surprised at the reaction.
I think that anyone who identifies him/herself by his/her religious affiliation is a mental defective who should be avoided at all costs.
That's MY own take on it.

The truth often hurts. People "over" react for that very reason. It's called "hitting a nerve".

OK. Maybe people took it out of context. I think he made an error of judgment and should have been adviced better
