for starters if you got a digital camcorder it would be way better than any webcam .. hook it up to your computer in live mode and if you are talking bout using it as webcam on yahoo messenger then go to messenger -> preferences -> webcam source and select your cam corder from the drop down box . to put ur cam corder in live mode as in it should show video as you are moving around on your computer screen for recording purposes then start webcam you should be good !

Id go with logitech 1.3 megapixel around a $100 to $120..Cams have it written on them or with instructions if they can be used as a webcam..So look around and you'll see
