What areas are SAFE and affordable? I have dogs too... is it going to be a problem trying find an apartment? What about the art scene? I heard that Portland has these great festivals - how is it in Seattle? And are the people friendly? I am being eaten alive by mosquitoes here in Atlanta - how about there, are they a problem?

Yes - two dogs but only one is mine, I found the other one but I am afraid to adopt him out down here! Both are small, 5 pounds and 17 pounds, well taken care of, housebroken, etc. Are there any dog friendly areas?

What about smaller towns outside Seattle? I work at home so I don't have to commute. Any suggestions?

Most of Seattle is safe, so you shouldn't have any problems there, but finding an affordable apartment that takes dogs (more than 1, I presume) might be more challenging...especially since the rental market here has soared and rents have increased quite a bit over the past 2-3 years. The best place on the web to look for apartments is:

http://seattle.craigslist.org or http://www.rent.com

Seattle has a thriving art scene and plenty of festivities, much more so than Portland. Not to mention, the scenery here is more lovely and the weather more moderate.

People are chill here. Most are friendly, but might be more apt to keep to themselves.

I haven't been bitten by a single mosquito in 3 years here. I've never even seen one.

YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE IT HERE COMPARED TO ATL!!!

Seattle has great art galleries and museums. Not sure if there are really any affordable places to live in Seattle. It depends on how much you are looking to spend. A 2 bdrm apartment will probably run you about $1,200. The further away you are from water the less mosquitoes you will come across. Try to keep stagnant water away from your apartment. You might have a tough time finding an aparment that take dogs. It may depend on their size. Some apartments will only allow dogs under a certain weight...usually about 25 pounds or so. Do a web search (I like www,ask.com) to find apartments in Seattle.
