An ESPN survey of journalists, athletes and other sports figures ranked Jordan the greatest athlete of the 20th century, above icons such as Babe Ruth and Muhammad Ali. Jerry West said that for all Jordan's records and statistics, he was most amazed that Jordan was "still the best defensive player in the league." In 2003, Jordan topped SLAM magazine's Top 75 NBA Players of All Time.
