Alchemy is the theory that one can change Lead to Gold. Lead has a periodic number of 82, gold is 79. That number is the number of protons in the nucleus of the element. Alchemy is basically trying to get 3 protons out of lead. It HAS BEEN DONE, but only in very expensive labs. It costs thousands of dollars to produce a minuscule amount of gold. Try panning in Alaska, I can guarantee you will come home with more gold.
