It looked dirty even after you tried to clean with a dishwashing liquid and water and would appear dirty, after it got dried.

There is a spray on the market called Oxyclean carpet stain remover. I have used it many times and it works quite well. If the stain is old you may have to let it dry and do it again. If you have a carpet cleaner, rinse it with cold water until the water is clear as the cleaning solutions push the stain deeper and when the top drys it acts as a wick and pulls the stain back up, that is why the water rinse. Good Luck

Dishwashing liquid? Yikes. Listen there is a product called CLEAR CHOICE. I have never found anything even remotely comparable. You spray it on work it in gently with your fingers and dab dry. The stain will start to lift IMMEDIATELY! Its amazing. Occasionally I have had to repeat the process but not often. It works right before your eyes. Works on laundry as well. My boyfriend had a bloodstain on Irish linen that was over a year old, it had been washed and treated countless times and it still came out good as new.
My mom lives in Vegas and gets it at a store there I have rarely been able to find it. She sends it to me but I am certain if you went online you could find it. And BELIEVE me it would be worth the hassel it is incredible nearly effortless. One bottle will last you forever. Ive even diluted it when its nearly empty and it still worked just as well. A little coffee stain would not stand a chance. You should get it especially since you have white-ish carpet. I promise, it certainly beats dish soap

I guess its made in Vegas..who knew?

try a product called Carpet Science.

It got a Good Housekeeping seal of approval and the product works really well on tough stains. I have a berger beige carpet with a dark soil stain that wouldn't come out even after repeated steam carpet cleanings.

I just sprayed Carpet Science and the stain disappeared in about 15 seconds worth of scrubbing.

You might try white vinegar and water... mix 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water. It will smell like vinegar for a little while but the smell will go away in a short while. or you might just try proxide. it shouldnt hurt your carpet, its the same as Oxy-based cleaners.

I have spilled coffee on my rug many times, it is light tan, and the only product that works for me is the Wal-mart rug cleaner. It's under a $1.00! If it doesn't work for you then you're only out a buck.
