Here is a link to the English translation of the Pope's controversial speech: http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/benedict_xvi/speeches/2006/september/documents/hf_ben-xvi_spe_20060912_university-regensburg_en.html

With love in Christ.

AGREE

The key issue at stake in the battle over what the said is this: Will the West stand up for its customs and mores, including freedom of speech, or will Muslims impose their way of life on the West? Ultimately, there is no compromise: Westerners will either retain their civilization, including the right to insult and blaspheme, or not.

More specifically, will Westerners accede to a double standard by which Muslims are free to insult Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, and Buddhism, while Muhammad, Islam, and Muslims enjoy immunity from insults? Muslims routinely publish cartoons far more offensive than the Danish ones. Muslims routinely show agression to those they find offensive, Muslims routinely show open support for Islamo-facists terrorists, Muslims routinely re-arrange history all the way back to the crusades so they can play the victim card...Are they entitled to dish it out while being insulated from similar indignities?

The deeper issue here, however, is not Muslim hypocrisy but Islamic supremacism. What we need to ask ourselves non-Muslims, is should we submit to their taboos for fear of violent reprisal??

The truth hurts, the real question now, is what do we do about it?

atleast the pope didnt call for a crusade, imagine the muslim reaction then, would there be any difference in the muslim reaction? or to the cartoon reaction? their whole culture is a throwback to the stone throwing cavemen. Now they are trying to use world war II technology so they can throw nukes instead of rocks and say allah made me do it.

Agree 100%.
I say we should start making fun of muslims and Islam on TV, on the radio. Make fun of Mohamed, just like we make fun of Jesus and Moses and Buddha. This is a free society we live in! Let them protest, we are just going to laugh at them for being dumb. The louder they protest - the louder we should laugh!
Eventually they will get tired, and say "ahh.. screw it!"

there are very few things to say in favor of Islam, they do tend to select the violent way everywhere they go.
