Why do the majority of men cheat on their partners?

It makes sense if you assume that there is an innate biological imperative for all men and women to produce children. The man has a better chance of producing more children if he "mates" with more women, because he can have a theoretically unlimited number of children at once. The woman, who has to bear the child, has a better chance of producing more children if she has one stable mate.

I don't think a "majority" of men cheat, see the information below. However it probably has to do with self esteem issues and wanting to feel needed. I also would suggest that some people tend to lose the newness and excitment and rather than address their current relationship it is easier to find something new and exciting. I am sure the abilty to "get away with it" is also enticing. I personally never cheated on my spouse so I am looking from the outside in on this topic...

Polls show that although 90% of married people disapprove of extramarital relationships, statistics from a national survey indicate that 15% of wives and 25% of husbands have experienced extramarital intercourse. These numbers increase by 20% when emotional affairs and sexual relationships without intercourse are included.

I think the reason men cheat is because women nag so much to their men ,if their cheating or not. You can't continue to nag men it just makes them want to go out and do it. If their not and you suspect it they get the idea that since you already think it so then they might as well do it and if they are can you control it? No. So why ask it just causes more confusion and brings up trust issues. Men usually tell on themselves if so it will come out just sit back and play your roll as a girlfriend. Keep your man happy what you won't do someone else might.

I don't think the majority of men do. I think there are just as many women love rats as there are male. Of course I've been cheated on by a man at some time or other and I can't say I've been the most faithful either, but without meaning to make you feel sick, I truly believe that when you are really in love, you become blinkered. Don't give up hope, there are still a lot of nice ones out there. In fact I'm dating one right now and I honestly believe he has been faithful to me and will carry on doing so. It took a while for me to trust him, but I'm glad I did! x

Both men and woman cheat its just sad they dont finish the relationship b4 they go hurting people.

When a person cheats on their partner its usually because of problems in the relationship or that they dont really love the other.

Why?

Coz they can & there seems 2 a woman quite prepared 2 sleep with a married man, it's like they come with some sort of guarantee.
The grass is greener & they think they're losing out if they don't.

Men cheat 4 lots of reasons other than the 1's above.
But the main reason I hear again & again is coz they can.

They don`t, not the majority. A lot of men cheat, cause they are weak, but there are a lot of faithful guys out there as well.

The don't. Cheating isn't limited to one gender, both sexes cheat. If you're honest about yourself and what you're really looking for, you should be able to avoid those types of people. But as long as you don't look past the surface and really try to learn about the other person, you will continue to have that happen.

I think a lot of men jump into a relationship with someone before they really know the person. After the novelty of a new relationship wears off, they're bored and want something new. Then they search out someone else.
