Go back to basic, use flash cards, memorize them, put them in sentences to help you remember.
It's like SAT but harder. Goodluck!

Hi Karthik,

Words are different from numbers. If the numbers follow a particular serial pattern, you remember them well. We cannot remember words when they come in alphabetical succession. See, if you read only words with starting with E, you will forget all of them by evening.

What you need to do is, read 25 words of each letter each day. That way you will have a VARIETY. I use capital letters, coz variety is important in remembering English words.

Tear off the word list pages from your Barron's/princeton's guide. You cannot remember pages if they are in the book. you get lazy in opening the book, you can't move the pages whichever you want to, etc So just tear off the pages.

If you own a computer, use WordWeb. It is available for free on the internet. It gives you word and its synonyms.

Two days back one of my juniors at IIT Bombay wrote his GRE. He said that this time they gave a tougher word list. So you might want to concentrate on difficult words more.
Goodluck.

you first make a list of all the words which you know.
and then you learn all the words which you use in your daily life but don`t know the meanings of them,
and then after that you collect the words which you feel easy and try to learn them and at last you learn all the words according to the arrangement of the alphabets.
