I'm in the 9th grade. In fourth grade our teachers considered a fruit roll up a heathly snack. But starting in the sixth grade we couldn't bring anything dried or packaged. I got in trouble once for bringing raisins! They can't bring crackers because of the salt, celery with peanut butter, or carrots with dip. No juice boxes or fruit cups becase of the added sugar. Only fresh cut fruits and vegetables which cost a fortune in the winter. Some schools don't allow anything skicky because it might get on their paper work...which crosses out almost all fruit. YET they continue to serve the kids brownies, sugar cookies, and pizza with puddles of grease at lunch. Does anyone else think this new snack policy is a bit too much?

Schools are trying to cut down on bad foods. Im not quite sure why in 4th and even worse, 6th grade you are having snack. I would say Kindergarten and 1st should be the only ones having snack. The only time I let my 5th graders have snack is during standardized testing because it is draining and they need a break. By 4th and 6th grade, you should be able to wait from breakfast to lunch. Sorry but I am not going to pity you for not being able to bring snacks in because I think you are old enough to not have to.

Pizza is a relatively CHEAP and easy-to-make source of protein and fiber - which is the reason school cafeterias make it - but I'd prefer raisins or other dried fruits if they cannot be fresh.
