you must have an anti virus programme installed on your computer ....there are several free one which are as good if not better than paid for programmes ....i use avg which is excellent ...
the thing to do with programmes like limewire ......when you download anyfiles from any p2p site ...DO NOT open it or download it immediately .....first use your antivirus to scan it first ...this will tell you if the file has any virus before you open them and infect your computer ......if it shoulds any files as infected ...then simply delete the whole downloaded file ...never be tempted to open.it ........

First thing yes the limewire peer to peer download site is a virus and spyware happy place. Don't use it. Pay for your music and you will have no problems, or if you hate that response then buy a Good anti virus program. The AVG free program sux. For the people that use it and say they have never had a problem is because the program doesn't pick up on the viruses you do have. I scanned a thumb drive that I knew had a virus on it and the program completely missed it. Get a good anti virus and spyware program and you Will be amazed on how well you deal with viruses and how well the PC will run in general.

Well, I think you have discovered that file sharing does have consequences. Hackers place malicious files on P2P networks hoping to entice users to download their programs, which are disguised as geniune programs. Since you didn't have any antivirus program installed prior to your troubles, I recommend you clean your computer before installing a antivirus program.
Since it appears that you have access to the Internet, I strongly recommend you use an online antivirus scanner to scan and remove the viruses and spyware installed on your computer. There are several such online scanners but I find that Trend Micro's Housecall is the best. Housecall scans for both viruses and spyware. Housecall stands apart from other online scanners because it will also remove any malicious files, while other online scans will scan for free but charge for removing viruses. Housecall is at: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
Click on the "Start Now, It's Free!" link.
After successfully removing the malicious files, you should install a antivirus program and a firewall if you don't already have one. Filehippo has a good collection of free antivirus and firewall programs. Go to: http://www.filehippo.com
Look under "Firewall and Security" and "Antivirus."
If you run into any problems, give me a ring.

Have a good anti-virus software and firewall on your computer. I use Limewire almost every day, and I get a small handful (six or seven) of low-threat spyware files on my computer each week. I never get viruses.
