The psyche was the Greek concept of the self, encompassing the modern ideas of Soul, Self (psychology), and Mind. The Greeks believed that the mind, soul or "psyche" was responsible for behaviour.

Psyche was a human who became immortal after completing a number of almost impossible tasks. Her psyche became separate from her physical body

The psyche comes from the Ancient Greek word for soul, or if you want a literal translation it means breath, as in the breath of life.

It's from the Greek, and it means self, soul, and mind. These are all abstract terms.... in that they are words that were created by Man, but they have nothing on the physical plane to which they refer. That is, they were coined to refer to Esoteric realms within Man because the Esoteric realms of [self=Apapsyche], [Soul= Spiritual Core] , [and MIND - a subtle body of vibrational energy simultaneously existing with that of the physical body] cannot be accessed or known by the brain or physical senses.

The term Esoteric "eso"= within, is defined as "limited to the specially initiated alone". This simply means that one has to have special "experiential" training in order to be able to access the Esoteric realms within oneself. Such special training is not currently taught in any college or university in the US. Some 95% of all mental health professionals have no idea what the MIND is, or how it operates. Nor are they Knowledeable of the Esoteric within man generally.

It is the subconscious, conscious mind. The Spirit or/and Soul of one's existence. It could be summed up as that, anyway. But it is 1,000 more complex and esoterically comprehensive!
