Bullying is not natural selection - if by natural selection you mean the eliminating of the week for greater good of the whole, i.e in the animal kingdom where in many species the runt is left to die.
The domination of a human being by another by use of intimidation is not natural selection it is the behaviour of the gutter. Unfortunately it is more and more prevalent with the lowering of standards in public and private life. It is encouraged by parents who are too disinterested to discipline their children or to teach them how to interact with others. I have seen it in the work place where employees have been intimidated by someone in higher management. This is so stupid it stifles initiative and eventually can destroy a firms' viability. Groups of yobs think it is fun to intimidate the elderly. Whole areas are held to ransome by gangs of thugs and men have died protecting their families and homes. No bullying is not natural selection

It really depends on how you mean "bad". If you are talking about it in the social sense, then of course it is bad. Nobody wins as a result of bullying, least of all not the victimizer. When you bully others around, you displace your feelings onto them. Usually when a bully abuses others, it is a physical representation of their emotional thoughts.
As far as natural selection goes, you may have a point. If you step back and look at the big picture, the human race as a whole has become better as a result of the seemingly unfortunate events that have occured. Take WWII for example. Through the deaths of many innocent people we have all learned the cruelty that humankind is capable of. Future generations will take more precautions as a result of it and become stronger through the strife. In the same way, 9/11 brought out the best in people who suddenly realized what life is all about. So the "bullying" on a grand scale done to the United States by the terrorists has brought us all even closer together. Its a stretch, I know but it's interesting to think about.

Natural selection is stuff like the runts of animal litters dying so the others get more food, or clever people living longer. Bullying isn't natural selection, it's symptomatic of man butting into nature's business where it's not wanted by creating competitiveness within non-vital boundaries. Having the wrong trainers will not endanger the herd. Being short will not attract predators, and having spots will not infect the herd with disease. Being poor will not have any effect on the hunt, and being good at maths does not mean the group member is any less valid.
If you seriously believe bullying isn't a bad thing, I recommend you climb into a cannon, light it with a rocket, and fire yourself into the face of the sun.

I don't think bullying is natural selection. Making someone feel intimidated, scared, fearful, etc. is completely wrong. Would you like someone to bully your younger sibling or your child? It's not a great feeling at all. There's nothing natural about it.

Bullying is a very cruel thing it can destroy all your self confidence, and cause a lot of problems in life, I know because I was bullied in school and I have suffered with low self confidence, and I still feel the awful sense of rejection that I felt as a child. It's quite obvious that you haven't been bullied If you had you wouldn't be asking such a stupid question.

Natural selection is survival of the fittest. This is a basic thing. We are sentient beings and don't just go and beat up someone who wants to go out with someone we fancy, or their current boyfriend just so we can have them. We supress our violent urges because we are more developed. If natural selection works correctly hopefully you wont have any children! You vile pig.

Not at all. Bullies are generally marginal members of a community who try to gain status by force or intimidation. In other words, they're not the natural leaders, for one reason or another. Societally, bullies tend to lose as much or more than they gain.

If you look at the advances that make up the world we live in, they've mostly come from physical runts who were intellectual giants. Natural selection comes from survival of the fittest, and your best bet of survival is to protect that geeky kid who is going to come up with the cure for that hitherto incurable disease that you somehow manage to get. Therefore, yes, bullying is bad.

Yes it's nature at work, but that doesn't make it good. Besides, human beings have a different reaction to bullying than most animals. A dog can't go get a gun and kill everyone in site because it's picked on and full of rage. A dog can't take a gun and shoot itself because it is so depressed that it can't take it anymore.
