There is no difference, other than that one person's idea of common sense is another's folly.
For something to be scientific it has to be supported by proof and people who learn differing science's don't argue with anyone. Neither do they have opinions about the subject or the question.
Fact is fact and for anyone that wants to argue about that they can never get started before the listener walks away.
So if you think that words can beat facts carry on.
You will find yourself alone with a similar person where your common sense is not common enough for you both to realise you have a problem.
What do you do then?
Look for respect.
In your dreams, so start leaning now.

Science is based around provable facts.
Common sense is generally accepted wisdom ( which may change as the science proves things)
Example:
The world is a sphere ( close enough for the example)
in the dark ages many believed the world was flat so common sense said don't sail in one direction forever or you may fall off!!
Common sense tells me whoever is going to read your homework is looking at your thought process rather than you being factually correct.( 500 words could be illustrated in 20)

i cannot write the whole 500-word essay for you!
well, i can contribute.
for me, science and common sense are common because they are both based on rational thinking, and are somewhat innate to a person. Try to research on the denotative definitions of the two terms and you'll come up with a good idea on the topic. also for me, science is more systematized, organized than common sense, which i think is basically instinct and works at random rather than at a linear basis.

Perhaps the teacher would accept the following written four hundred times?
The difference between science and common sense is that science refuses to use common sense because science fears what it cannot control, and it cannot control what it does not know, which is what intuition provides common sense.

In common sense you do something once and learn not to do it again. It is a base reaction. It is learning, science is observation and testing.
In science yoiu have to do it at least three times to make sure it isn't a fluke. (And then you have to get someone else to try it with different apparatus to see if they get the same answers). In proper science once you have an idea you try to disprove it, if you can't then you accept it as true ... for now.]
Remember in science everything is a theory, there is no fact!

Science is knowledge that can be demonstrated through investigation by several different methods, i.e., reproduction, observation, comparative analysis, etc.
Common sense is the things which we take direct cognition of and are not in need of verification for validity. They are truths of reason and are axiomatic or self evident. Examples? Self existence, space and time, law of causality and mathematical truths. All which are true regardless of our direct awareness of them at any moment. We act upon them in a sense of apriorial acceptance. We cannot deny the truths of common sense any more than we can deny the existence of a pencil while using one to write a statement of its denial.
Science begins with a postulate and proceeds to prove the falsehood or truth of that postulate.
Common sense begins with experience and proceeds as truth
regardless of scientific presuppositions.
Start here....run with it...

Science says that if you place your hand in a hot flame there will be certain chemical reactions relulting in this, that and the other. Common sense says don't play with fire.
