Try this ant bait:
1 part 20 Mule Team Borax or Boric acid
9 parts of a sweet sticky liquid like maple syrup, honey or Karo syrup
Mix the ingredients. Heating in a double boiler may speed the process. Take an empty margarine tub and poke 4 holes around the bottom edge (entry holes for ants to walk in).
Place a dollop the size of a quarter in the middle of the tub, then put the top back on. This mixture is not non-toxic, however it is less toxic, and that's the key to its success.
The ants carry it back to the nest where they feed it to the entire colony and wipe out the nest.

First be aware that they are coming in from outside. They could possibly be nesting in your wallspaces (the space inside your walls) . Sprays are a waste of time,as are ant & roach motels. This is a common problem here in Florida where I live. I have used almost everything to battle these things that you can imagine. The ones we have here are red ' pissants' , what some folks call fireants, which they're not, but they DO bite !
The best way to deal with them is to use a bait type product.
Amdro Yard Treatment is the best that I have found to spread outside, and can be found at Home Depot, Lowe's or most any home improvement center. Broadcast it with a spreader around the perimeter of your home in about a ten foot wide band all the way around your home.
Inside, if you have a place to get professional pest control chemicals (we have a place here called Do-It-Yourself Pest Control), there is a product called MAXFORCE Professional Insect Control granular insect bait. It has a sprinkle top,and the product looks a little like brown pepper. Spread this out under your dishwasher, or any other place where you see them, but where kids and pets can't reach it.
What both of these products do is actually attracts the ants to it. They pick it up, and carry it to the nest, where they eat it ( ants, like roaches are colony feeders- they ALL share the food), and it will kill them. It may take 1-2 weeks to see a difference, but you WILL see a difference!

You are going to have to find a way to pull the dishwasher out, clean behind there and get you some Raid, Ant & Roach Killer, Pick up two bottles and Spray behind the dishwasher, around the window seals, all open cracks, in the bathroom, under cabinets where it can be moist. If you get defoggers, you will have to leave the house for up to 4 hours, cover your dishes, put away pershiable foods and if you have a fish tank that is going to have to be covered too and unplugged. And to mention all your kids toys would need to be put away and covered too which can lead to many days of cleaning. Get the Raid and just start spraying them bastards. Or if you have the money call an exterminator or if you live in an apartment have the apartment complex manager get some one.

This is inexpensive and it works, buy some 20 Mule Team Borax laundry soap and put the dry soap in one of the cheap ketchup bottles that you can buy at and dollar store, snip a little bit of the tip off of the bottle. Apply along baseboards, kitchen cabinets and around where the plumbing and water lines come into the house under sink and vanities, put the Borax in any areas that you see the ants, you can also sprinkle it on carpet leave it lay for several days or until you no longer see any signs of the ants, then vacuum up the excess and dispose of it....you can use the rest of the box of laundry soap to do laundry with! This remedy has worked for me for years....and it cost about three bucks for the laundry soap and a buck for the ketchup bottle! I also have pets and it does not bother them, the borax will also kill fleas in your carpet if you have pets...it is a simple solution and I think it will surprise you how well it works.

mix boric acid with a little bit of powdered sugar and sprinkle in their path. They'll be thrilled with the sugar and carry the boric acid back to the nest. You might want to find the candy stash in your kids rooms, the ants should lead you right to them. LOL
