At my old school they didn't allow dodge-ball......unless you rolled the balls which made the game pointless and boring...at some schools kids have to wear helmets on the swings... and the game of tag has been banned at some schools. And this could be only the beginning. Do you think they're starting to take the fun out of recess?

Yes, they are taking the fun out of recess. Kids need to be so protected nowadays that there is little room for fun left inside the padding and helmets. It's great to keep kids safe, but it's a shame that everything is apparently so dangerous. But with the way we Americans throw around lawsuits, it's necessary.

What I've been hearing is they're trying to do away with recess, which is a terrible thing. Kids need recess. They're cooped up in a classroom most of the day, and recess is they're one time to escape it. It's good for the learning process. It lets them get rid of all that balled up energy to allow them to focus. Taking the fun out of recess is the first step.
When I was in elementary school, we had half-an-hour for recess and half-an-hour for lunch. We'd organize games of soccer, have races, roll down the hills, or hide-and-go-seek. Or we'd pretend to have adventures. If we didn't have recess, it was chorus, because we needed to practice for teh upcoming Winter or Spring concerts.
I hope they don't do away with recess. That would be a terrible thing.

WOW rolling a dodgeball......... that's just weird i think that they're taking all the fun out of recess. i mean TAG they won't let people play TAG. recess is supposed to be fun and no matter what there are always accidents you can't really blame the game or the people playing the games. an accident is an accident, people get hurt

Well, yes, and no. They still get recess but with all of the violence now-a-days, it is imperative to keep the kids safe.

YES, these people need to get a life and figure out that accidents happen, you shouldn't shelter kids. If you do their whole young life imagine what they will be like as adults
