It is possible, but not usually likely. Strep throat is a serious illness. That is why when my kids have a sore throat, the 1st thing their doctor tests for is strep. If I were you, I would re-schedule my appt. esp. since your ears are plugged and your voice is different...you obviously still have a bacterial/viral infection of some sort.

white thing on throat? Tonsil Infection (don't worry, I've gotten them multiple times in the past. They come, and then go away.)
Some ideas
1. Take Vitamin C... you don't have to take a dose every 15 minutes but there's generally no harm in taking 500 mg every hour or so.
2. Garlic is your friend, unless you're allergic.
3. Pepper helps too.. it tends to unclog sinuses and clears mucus.
4. Keep yourself warm.
you have little shafts between your ears and the back of your nose. Those can easily get clogged with mucus when you're fighting some cold or strep throat. If they're getting clogged only on a plane, you shouldn't worry. Sometimes Sudafed or something containing psuedoephedrine works. If your ear is beginning to hurt, I'd go ahead and get some antibiotics (assuming it is strep). Of course, take the full (antibiotic) dosage, no matter how you're feeling.
Last time I got severe cold like symptoms associated with some bacterial infection, I went to the doctor, though that was because some of my symptoms (no fever, but coughing, etc) lasted a couple of weeks. The antibiotics, psuedoephedrine and anti-asma medication cleared things up pretty quickly.
I realize I'm contradicting some of the people here. I don't think every instance where one gets a sore throat needs antibiotics. It sounds to me like your sore throat cleared up fairly quickly. But if symptoms do last a while (1 week?), you definitely should consider seeing a doctor. If it is strep, then it is treatable.
There are guidelines and medical (patient) books for going to see the doctor. I suggest you find a recent one and buy it.

Well if its going away then its not strep throat but some other problem. True strep throat doesnt go away without anti biotics and can cause serious problems if left untreated. You could just have fluid in your ears causing the plug up feeling. If you start to have a fever then get back to the doctor.

You did exactly the wrong thing.
Strep throat is caused by a streptococcus bacterial infection. You WILL get over it eventually.
The reason that we treat strep throat aggressively with antibiotics is that the strep bacteria can affect other parts of your body, like your heart and kidneys, and mess them up for life. Serious, bad stuff.
Please get tested for strep and if you have it, take the FULL COURSE of antibiotics.

You have to have meds w/strep but you could also have a virus and still have puss pockets on your throat. If it doesn't get better go to the doctor. Good luck!

If you leave strep throat untreated it can turn into Rheumatic fever and you can die. Normally you need antibiotics to cure the infection , you are conatgious ad can spread the infection to others. I would go to the doctor and get some antibiotics.

Yes you did the wrong thing. You need to see your doctor. Strep can clear up on its own, but it settles on the mitral valve in your heart and will cause you heart problems later on in life.
Your ears are plugged because your Eustachian tubes are clogged up. You need to relieve this pressure, try antihistamines like sudafed and afrin nose spray. And go see your doctor.
