Just be honest and tell them the truth. Sometimes the truth hurts and thats how life goes, but it does set you free.

first make sure that he likes you as more than a friend. then, if you don't wanna get with him, explain to him that you are looking for a very good friend but nothing more. after that... let me know how it went because I'm in the exact same situation!
