I live in Arizona and as far as I know the free repairs are limited to cars 12 years old or older for emissions repairs only. This is sponsored by the state. You may checkout a community collage near you and see if they will do the repair as part of a training program for their students. Most alternators are fairly easy to replace your self Just don't forget to disconnect the battery first or you will have a shocking experience. If you told us what kind of car you have and what engine it has someone here could probably walk you through the job.

Sorry Mam, I don't know what that place you heard about is. Might I suggest that you contact the priest or pastor of your nearest local church. Possibly they can direct you to someone who could do a simple job like that.
