I had an idea today while scarfing down my breakfast of ham and eggs. You remember the scene in "The Untouchables", when Sean Connery explains how to get Capone:

"He pulls a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue."

What if we adopted that thinking as our official response to Islamic rioting and terrorism? They kidnap an American citizen, we round up a few dozen of their citizens. They blow up a nightclub or an airplane, we bomb one of their cities anto rubble. They cut off an American's head, we behead twenty of them.

In short, whenever Muslims resort to violence, we turn it back on them twenty-fold. And there will be no mercy, no talk about "a few extremists". The message will be clear: either you clean your house of extremists immediately or we will clean it up for you.

That way, either the "peaceful" Muslims will take care of business, or there won't be enough of them left to be a problem.

It's just a thought -- but it could solve quite a few problems....

uncleslam111: *lol* you have a good point. But for the sake of generosity, if we adopt this plan, we let bygones be bygones... and the very next time we have a problem, we drop the hammer WITHOUT MERCY.

Leogirl0804: I can see your point, but this plan does not recognize anyone who stands by and lets the "extremists" do as they please as innocent. I either want to to see harsh punishment for terrorism meted out by Muslim authorities, or they will all bear the consequences of the actions of a few.

It sucks, but there is only so much we can tyake -- UncleSlam's list is a good example.

carpediem: I did think about what I was saying. Now YOU think about THIS: What if you find out that you have Cancer... that the cancer is eating you alive and slowly and surely destroying your body, making you weaker and weaker and threatening your very existence. Do you shrug and say, "The cancer has a right to exist, too?" Do you offer the cancer coexistence in your body, even as you recognize that it is relentless as it consumes you? Or do you do everything in your power to cut that cancer out, to kill it, to destroy it, to eliminate it from your body?

I say to you that radical Islam IS A CANCER.

mudmarine: An excellent point... but the Israel never really has a chance to get started before we knuckle under to pressure and reign them in. Look at the blasting Bush got just recently when the Israelis were kicking *** and taking names -- we always make them quit. If we'd let Israel handle the situation, there wouldn't BE any problems in the Middle East.

You need to realize this is "real life" and not some movie. What you're proposing is exactly what breeds MORE hate and MORE killing. You are very naive if you think at some point you will kill or capture the LAST terrorist. This mindset you're proposing is completely ridiculous and it is NOT a solution. Think about what you're suggesting.

You cannot compare "cancer" to terrorism. Cancer can be cured, there have been terrorists in the world since well before the 11th century. You can't eradicate terrorists like cancer, those terrorists have friends and relatives and neighbors and they want revenge every time we kill one of them so it's an endless cycle. We need to get smart about dealing with terror, not just mindless killing, as Gandhi said "An eye for an eye and the world is blind".................

that's exactly what Sadam was doing - and as history will show you - that technique works a heck of a lot better, but then some countries might look at you as an evil person and kill your children and blow up your cities and over throw you, and charge you with trumped up humanitarian charges and, wait - that's what's happening now.

Well I think that punishing innocent people will put us on the same moronic level their radicals are on. Now if we can kills 20 of their known terrorist to one of ours, then I say let's roll, but I don't feel comfortable stooping to their level. The only exception to this rule would be like the situation they had in Lebanon, where the cowards hid amongst the innocent. That would change the whole scenario to "you better root 'em out, or we'll do it for you and no one will be spared?

I would want no part of a government that behaves that way.

Didn't the Nazis and the Germans in WWI conduct reprisals against innocent citizens in the lands they occupied too?
They would execute entire villages;l

How did this help?

Most of our problems with the Muslim world stem from our own greed. In 1953 Iran wanted to nationalize the oil industry but the Brits had a company there called the Anglo Iranian oil co. that had interests in the oil. They were offered money for their interests but turned it down. Truman did not interfere but when Eisenhower got in they were able to convince him that Iran was in danger of allying with the Russians so with the aid of British and American intelligence they brought the shah to full power. The shah eventually became a brutal dictator but the people revolted and replaced him. This also led to the invasion by students of our embassy there. My point in telling you this is that in many ways we are responsible for the hate against us.
Reagan did nothing to try to sooth relations and in fact encouraged Saddam Hussein in his war with Iran. So you can blame who you wish, but to me it seems we got ourselves into this quandary and the best course of action would be to admit past mistakes and try for better relations. I really don't buy the fact that most Muslim nations really don't want peace with us. They know they would be annihilated if they were to seriously damage this country say with a nuclear or biological attack.

Watch Swordfish (get the DVD, don't watch it on TNT, they edit the Halley Barry shots on TV)...that's the punch line of the movie.

Serious good idea, according to international law, reprisals are permitted, but must be measured. Assuming we are at war.

The Israeli's have been doing this for years and they don't learn, they think they're going straight to paradise .
To get any effect you need to start hitting where it counts , the political and religious leaders, make them responsible for their people .
Announce it at the UN , that attacks by terrorists will come back at them personally and fatally ,
Remember Mr. Kadaffi of Lybia , he changed his tune when an air strike was aimed at him .
If you want to kill snakes , find the den and dynamite it .

Your point is well taken. Uncleslam nails it. We can only win peace through violence. So many people do not get this. I am sick of traitors who blame us for this. These are the same people who sue McDonalds because they are fat. People like this do not deserve to live in a free land.
