ok..i posted this question a few minutes ago:
My mother in law buried her dog in a baby coffin in the burial plot beside her husband...is this weird?
i thought it was an amazing waste of money.
would you do something like this?

i didn't add that it is the family's cemetery.....and it is almost out of plots.
it goes back 6 generations.

the dog is burried closer to him than his brothers & sisters & parents & children

so...is it weird now???

Well, I guess it would depend on how old the dog was when it died, and how close she became to it or if it was her husband's dog.
The situation is kind of creepy, but when she is buried, dig up PUP and bury her first, then the PUP in the same plot. Then, make the headstone for both.
That frees up the plot...what does the rest of the family think about it...ie: your husband?

It's wierd in the sense that she thought more of the dog than her family. It;s also wierd that she buried the dog in a baby coffin, creepy. I am alos very attached to my dogs but come on. To alienate my family for a dog is a bit too far.

Yeah, I guess it's a little strange to put the dog in a coffin first of all. ( unless she just has THAT kind of money )
And to put it in the family cemetary....hmmmm..............
My husband and I have buried several animals in our own back yard. But we have several acres, and never intend to move. And when we DO die, the land will go to someone in the family.
I understand the close relationship a person can develop with their animals, but I just have to agree with you. It's a little strange.

Twas an amazing waste of money. Here's a creative solution - when MIL kicks it, exhume the dog, cremate it and put the ashes in her coffin. There's your space back. If there's a headstone, throw that in the hole too.

Your female chum is a "her" (not his/him...it quite is male). If she did not have a journey, then she could not make it. Did you anticipate her to take a taxi? with out understanding greater info i won't be in a position to tell you if she became fending off going or had a valid excuse. you will ought to parent that out. universal, considering that i'm an person and the human beings I date have their very own autos...if i became in a courting with somebody i may be disillusioned in the event that they chosen to not help me at a time of sorrow. That does not be the sign of a solid better half.

No unless you have dogs you will never understand the close bond you can get with them, your father in law must have loved his dog your mother in law knew this so buried them close

No I don't think its that weird, it just shows she really loved her dog and wanted him/her beside her in death to rest in peace with her. When my mother dies I'm planning on having her dogs ashes buried in an urn either with her or near her. I know she would want it that way.

No. If you have ever been close to an intelligent pet you begin to realize that they think and love similar, but in a simpler way, to us.

Many people, when they are dying, see their favorite pet coming for them and waiting patiently in their rooms. This was the case with my stepfather who passed-on last year. He kept seeing his dog in the room waiting for him.

Yes that makes it even worse! She should be ashamed of herself (unless she is planning on NOT being buried in that plot as well).

That mutt would get dug up so fast....

People put a lot of emotional attachment into animals. My sister did practically the same thing.
