I have read the trilogy and the one written by his brother too. My personal opinion is I enjoyed reading the first two books, they were sad and made me feel that such a tragic thing had happened. Left me feeling and questioning the rules of society but on reading the third book, I did not feel it was written so well. It somehow gave me reason to doubt the first two books... some things in the book did not make sense with the other two and it was all from his side... which I understand but everything in the book was on his side, everything supported his views...all his memories etc... They were all to perfected like an act....

I don't know, I hope they were true and maybe it was may own predjudice that ruined the books... for the first two maybe I did not question that a child would lie but in the third book maybe I was more sceptical because it was from an adults perspective.

Good Question.

I read them all but I can't really decide if I liked them because they were a great story about triumphing over an abusive past or because it made me appreciate how much my parents loved me and treated me well. I guess it could be a little of both. There were some graphic descriptions that made me a little sick a few times, some of the things the mother made him do were just too disgusting for words. I think the only thing that I hated about it was that the mother got to keep the other kids and ended up doing it again. I understand that it was a long time ago but it was still so wrong. I think the author did a great job writing the book and he was very brave to share this true story with the world.

yeah Dave Pelzier. I thought they were great reads myself. All 3 of them. First time I saw him was on Ricki Lake long time ago when it was on CH4. He was talking about how he's set up organisations to help kids that have been the victim of abusive families etc. .

Last year his brother released a book also about his views on what happened back then. Exactly the same thing, about what he went through etc...

Check it out.

yes read them all, never thought i would cry at a book, but what makes it so sad is that we know it's a true story.

Yes, I've read them. They horrified me. There was a lot of speculation in the press about them being made up. I sincerely hope they are, but somehow I think its a true story!

Read 'em all, cried my eyes out. They're the most depressing books I've ever read, but I just had to keep reading.
