I thought I read they never said a form of "goodbye" because they felt they would always meet again,either in this life or the afterworld.

Maybe you should ask if Native American peoples say goodbye? Or what they say when they are saying goodbye. You talk as if they are all extinct. Of course they would say goodbye. Not the actual word "goodbye" They didn't speak english. They have their own languages and ways of saying goodbye.

LOOK they had a big INDIAN party. THE CHIEF did a dance around the camp fire.AND the medicine man smoked the peace pipe with who ever wanted to smoke. I bet those Buffalo ribs and wings were great at the party.
