If your stove is electric turn burner on high for 5 to 10 minutes and let it burn off, then wait for burner to cool sightly then wash with a degreaser and use one of new magic eraser to gently rub ash residue off; if this a gas burner then fill sink with hot water and 2 c of clorox clean up let soak for 15 minutes, then with a Magic eraser rub soften residue off.

I use a product called "Easy Off." It's harsh, but it gets the grease right out. My advice: open a window and turn on a fan when you use it, because it very strong.
