I have decided to try tampons. I am not sure if I am putting them in right or not. It says on the instructions that you should not feel any discomfort, which I am not, but I do feel SOMETHING...I can't tell if it is the string or if it is the tampon.

If I am NOT putting it in far enough, how do I get it to go farther because it says to put the applicator in until your fingers touch your body which is what I am doing

If you were using pads before....you know how some brands were more comfortable than others? Like...you probably had a favorite kind? Well, it's kinda the same with tampons. I mean, they'll take a little bit to get used to...and you'll have to figure out which size is right too. It's really something you'll have to try and experiment with. You'll actually need to practice on getting it in far enough...and everything.
You'll definitely need to relax--since tensing up will cause your muscles to contract and make it harder to insert. Maybe try using a smaller size--they have ones that are really narrow, those are good to start out with.
They're a little hard to get used to...but once you do, you'll never go back to pads!

It could also be that you are using tampons that are too large....try a regular or a super slim if you are using super absorbancy (those things feel uncomfortable to me). Sometimes if you don't push the applicator in all the way (like, the bottom part that pushes it in) then you will feel the tampon sticking out a bit. You could also try the ob tampons (no applicator) which makes it easier to position, but lots of girls don't like inserting with their fingers... it takes some practice, you'll be fine!

you really shouldn't feel anything. But if you are ur tampon is probably not in all the way it goes in about a good 5 inches.

you can use your finger afterward to push it in farther if you want. if it's in far enough, the sensation goes away. in any case,you'll get used to it after a day or 2 and not feel it any more.
i've been using them for 36 years! :o}

Make sure it's inserted far enough up in the canal. If you go too shallow you will feel it.

You may be leaving part of the applicator in.
