Out of curiousity, how do exercises relieve menstrual cramps and why are they worsened by cold drinks?

I need to know because I'm going for an hour-long walk this morning with a cold bottle of gatorade (and yes, I took meds for the pain).

I never believed in exercise for menstual cramps, its the inflammation and bloating of the tissues that causes the cramps, Naproxen Sodium has always worked best for me because it reduces the inflammation and swelling.
