ok so you really sound like you know what your talking about. good mechanics are an asset to this country.

well now you got me scared. ok i bought this car and the rear sway bar was already detached but not removed they just kinda detached it and rotated it up and out of the way and secured it with tie straps. as far as handeling this thing can take a curve at 100mph but when it rains it does kinda swerve a little. im pretty sure the entire rearend of this car is not stock. does the sway bar conflict with any type of differential or rear suspension?
thanks for the answer

Hey!! Hey!! Are you listening???
Whatever you do, put that thing back together, and do it right!!!
About 1 year ago, i lost a very close cousin in a car wreck due to his sway - bar not being installed properly.
He was traveling to work in a rain storm, going around a long, graduall curve to the left, going about 50 m.p.h. (speed-limit was 45). Well, he hydroplaned, and due to the sway-bar, he swerved into on-coming traffic, and got t-boned.
He didn't feel much - he left behind two kids and a wife
So, if you value your life, or have kids, do them a favor, and put that thing back together!!!!!! oh-yah he was driving a caddillac

If it is already not connected to the suspension, nothing will change. So I recommend re-attaching it. Your car will corner flatter, understeer less, and in general feel a lot more fun to drive if you have a functioning rear sway bar on it.

The sway bar is there to help control body roll in turns. Your rear end will not come out if the sway bar is disconnected.

Try to find out what it would take to reconnect it for better cornering.

I'd keep the bars on. Those bars help with control in turning...keeps vehicles on the ground. utimately helps larger vehicles from rolling over.

one disadvantage is that the handling will be adversly affected. one advantage is as soon as you tell anyone you took it off they will know you are a fool who bent or broke your swaybar and didn't put another back on because you spent your money else where, or were too lazy or too stupid!!!
hey, but don't take my word for it wait till your rear end breaks loose as you are trying to pass a truck at 2:00 AM in the rain,...ROADSMEAR

yea, i'm harsh, i get that way when i try to save a life!!!

There is no advantage. Why would you want to do that? The car will skid and roll easier, if that's an advantage you're looking for.

It will seriously degrade handling when you make a turn if you remove them...
