that's a mirage. There are quite in hassle-free terms 5 lanes and all are open. yet after status in line for 3 hours you start to think of greater lanes, like once you're loss of life of thirst interior the desolate tract. while a real lane finally is approximately to open are not getting out of line and run for it, you will locate out it takes a cashier longer to place a drawer of money interior the sign in and hit some buttons to log in than it takes yet another cashier to ring out 3 human beings. quite i've got stood in line in a sign in that became merely flipped to open for 5 or 6 minutes formerly the 1st merchandise have been given scanned.

I use them only when I have one or two items to check out. Any more than that, and it tends to get hairy. The loud automated female voice is telling you to "remove item from bagging area", over and over, and people start staring at you, and a line is accumulating behind you...it's all very embarrassing and you wish you could just run out of the Wal-Mart and leave all your purchases behind. lol But for one or two things, it's fine...like a pack of gum and a bottled water, for instance. Don't wanna have to wait in line at regular checkout just for these little things. :-)

I'm currently living in St. Cloud, Minnesota and people use it all the time. I like it because I can generally scan quicker than a normal check out. And it's easier if I only have a few items. So they're really popular here. Where do you live?

If I have only a few things it can be worth my time. And if I bag my own I can sort for quicker stock time at home.
But I do find myself "blessing" the stupid prompts when I don't scan an bag quick enough for the damn machine. I don't think it's crazy to talk back to inanimate objects.

I do especially if I only have a couple things to buy. I find it much faster and less stressful. There is no one counting their change or having a conversation with the cashier. Plus I use it as a reward for the kids, if they behave then I let them scan the items.

I've used them but have a strong dislike for them. Wal Mart would do better to get rid of them.

i hate that they're trying to phase out jobs by putting those in; however, if all the regular check out lines have a billion people in line, I admit it! I do go through the self check out; and damn, I regret it EVERY time because those machines are so stupid and annoying! (If I could pick that thing up, I'd chuck it out the window!)

I don't, because the morons with a loaded shopping cart use them and tie up the registers longer than it takes to go through a regular line. Un-freakin-believable!

i wish ours had them..at least they are open all the time...instead of getting in line and waiting and waiting..because they don't want to open any more lines even though they have about 15 to twenty people waiting for about 5 open registers and having about 15 closed registers..makes you think

I do, all the time. The lines are usually shorter, and they are very convenient and easy to use. I have better things to do than stand in long lines.
