Not to answer the main question, which most people correctly answered as 50, but to talk about chris a's answer (he came up with 200).
1/2 of one third is not one third divided by 1/2, but one third multiplied buy 1/2 which will give you 1/6. Of course, 1/6 of 300 is 50.
