It is quite obvious that he did it to make many mad. If he has any opinions, especially racist or degrading ones, then he should have kept it to himself. It is amazing that when people in power slip, like Bush for example.

Here I thought the Pope was serving the people, how strange people like to twist things.

Another point, why not talk about all the horrid acts of the past that Catholism and Christianity breeded? That would make for an interesting speech.

Oh yes, and we can't forget about all the priests that seem to have an attraction to little boys ofcourse, maybe he should bring that up in his speeches as well.

I never said that the Pope was lying about it, I just think that he shouldn't exclude his own faith's faults from discussions. That would make more sense, or not make them at all.

He quoted a 600 year old text because he was giving a scholarly speech at the university where he used to be a professor. His point is that violence can never be used to spread religion and doing so is irrational - and God created us to act rationally.

And the Pope does not need your permission or anyone else's to speak his opinions. That's how things work in the free world.

stirred things Up?, try to make senses while there are others ready to opposed to everything?, can he, the pope and prince of Jesus church have an opinion about other Countries religions, Sects and groups?, why not, he is the Pope, doesn't Him?, now a day's,i thing is best to question things, that answer things, in our own, only God have the right answers, and in time if we are good, we will get to know then too. in the pass, the catholic Church has taking arms against others religions, though not to day, why Not?, well that isn't for me say, but only God decision!, So, forgive me God.

Faith, Reason and the University Memories and Reflections

He was invited to his old University to take part in a theological discussion on Faith and Reason. He quoted someone and a lot of what he said was not offensive in any way. The particular quote that has annoyed the Muslims was from an Emporer and was said over 600 years ago.

What if the Pope's comments are true?
Haven't you seen enough violence to be convinced that many factions advocate violence? Is it ok with you? It is not with me.
You are watching from a distance so you have the luxury of commenting - thoes who are victims of violence don't have the insulation around them that you and I have.
The truth is the truth - your sensitvity is in the wrong place.

Do you ever slip?
Gotta throw in the President for good measure... amazing indeed.

He was making a point using history. It is done all the time in the classroom. the fact that some people got mad, well that is their problem. He spoke the truth and he does not need to apologize for it. I do not apologize for anything I say in a sermon.
