i think that's a misperception. there are people everywhere that think like that. go to any country and there will be people who think they're the best. i'm american and i don't think i'm better than everyone. the government oftentimes reflects poorly on it's citizens. bush is nuts.

Why do people form other countries always think that's how Americans think. We really don't think that way and it's just another of this worlds generalization which promote hate and ignorance. I don't think I'm superior to anyone. Because we all may be superior in some aspect of life and inferior in another. So why even think this way.

At the risk of proving your argument, the question should read, "Why do Americans think they are superior to the rest of us?"
Personally, I don't. However, I knew a friend of my younger brother's who when asked about going on a foreign exchange in high school replied, "I can understand why they would want to come here, but we have nothing to gain by going there." This sadly, I am ashamed to say, is the attitude of many Americans.
Our government in recent years has certainly given great examples of this arrogance. Supposedly the great defender of democracy, we were not elected to a UN commission and our governmental officials carried on like 3 and 4 years old and threw tantrums. We erroneously allowed our President to start a war with Iraq and have yet to apologize for our mistake. Me support the trial of war criminals from other countries in the International Court, but are unwilling to submit our own people to such a process. The only positive thing I can say is that not all of us supported these moves.
Unfortunately, I believe that the US takes this position based on wealth. He who is at the top of the wealth pile can't possibly be wrong is the attitude. Our current President is the top cheerleader of the "I've got mine, to hell with you if you don't have yours club." I am certainly glad he won't be eligible for another term.
I personally think it is time the people of the United States started to worry more about their responsibilities and less about economic superiority.

Because you have the freedom to ask that without getting shot or imprisoned. We have rights and we have a welfare program for old people and disabled people. Most countries don't. There are alot of things wrong with this country, but there are too many things worth saving to let the whole thing go down the drain

after living in many different countries while i was in the military. i see that all people from all countries have pride in where they live. if that's acting superior to everyone else than i guess all humans are guilty of that. the big difference is in America and some other countries we are free to disagree with our govt. when in some other countries that gets you a bed for that long dirt nap

I don't think your question is fair because not all Americans think that way and the ones who do are wrong for believing they are. Why do you feel that way about Americans?

Basically because we are isolated from most of the world by two big oceans. I, personally, am more comfortable with people from cultures that are unlike American culture, but I am often surprised that they are surprised that I am welcoming.
Besides, how could I get to taste exotic dishes and listen to exotic music if I think that I am better than the ones who produce that food and music?

Because we are the most ingenious, enterprising, and morally upstanding society. That, plus the fact that we have have largest nuclear weapons stockpile in the universe, enjoy the finest cars, food, medicine, and most beautiful women to be found anywhere, and that we hate to lose. Despise losing. We have the finest education, quickest fast food, best entertainment available. We have the greatest freedoms, strongest military, best system of justice in the world. We have indoor plumbing, freedom of the press, billboards, the right to choose what religion to believe, no VAT, more than 4 channels of television to choose from, the greatest variety of goods and services, cellular phones and firearms in every pocket and a penchant for using them at the slightest whim. Baseball, NASCAR, Rhythm and Blues, Rap, Rock and Role, and the National Football league and all inventions of the US, as was the light bulb, telecommunications, and Poker. We have the finest gambling establishments, Disneyland, and the most awesome fleet of submerged nuclear-powered attack submarines to be found. We are equally ready, willing and able to send billions of dollars in aid to a nation in need or to apply sufficient nuclear throw weight against our enemies to warp space and yes, ever time itself. We have the greatest sense of humor, as witnessed by our willingness to elect actors, clowns, and idiots to positions of high power and then criticize their ridiculous behavior. Just you dont criticise, because then we will sanction you with extreme prejudice. We have Johnny Cash, Abraham Lincoln, Arnold Schwartzenegger, Superman, Colin Powell, Elvis Presley, Mike Tyson, Billy Graham and Hulk Hogan...yep, ours. We can dive in deeper, stay down longer, and come out dryer than anybody else in the galaxy. Tiger Woods. Hilliary Clinton. Our roads are wider, better maintained, and better patrolled, and we drive our SUV's on them faster than anyone else would dare. Our langage is universal. If you dont understand it, we simply say it louder and slower until you understand. We sit back any enjoy watching desperate villians in manic car chases, live on TV. We have the bests technology and sneakiest spys. When attacked, we are lions who just wont stop until our enemies are punished unto oblivion. Then we go back and aid those innocents who inadvertently got caught up in the fray. While the UN debates, we act. God has demonstrated that his blessings are upon the US and that we can stalk the earth like monsters under His protection. Dont you wish you were American? I wake up every morning and thank God that I wasn't born anything else.
