They say when she hits 12 to 15 punds. Also, if the dr. permits, you can put a tiny bit of rice cereal in her last bottle before bed, and that will help. If you are breast feeding, you can add it to the breast milk, or give one baby spoonful if he permits. Check with him first.

Heh heh. Your baby will sleep through the night at some point between now and twelve years in the future.

It depends on how you handle her waking. I guess that when she's about one or so, you could start expecting her to sleep for a while, but many kids don't sleep right through until they are close to three.

I really recommend buying a book about getting kids to sleep. Why listen to us when you can get all the information compiled by an expert in one little book? Try Good night, sleep tight, by Kim West. Reading it now will help you to avoid many sleep problems in later life. Good luck!

The average age is 6 months but my daughter started around 5 months and I've heard other babies that started sleeping through the night when they were brought home from the hospital, lucky parents. I know sleep deprivation is hard but I promise you that the memories of her being 3 months old will outweigh the feeling of being tired.
If she's not on a routine I strongly urge you to start. Follow her rythms so you know what to expect and she will inturn know what to expect and it will help with her sleeping, maybe even sleeping through the night sooner. I bought the book "The Baby Whisperer" and it was so incredibly helpful. I don't know what I would have done if I had not bought it and read it.

Try putting her on a schedule. If she sleeps too much during the day she will not sleep during the night. Playing with her releases energy so she won't be so wired to be up. Also try getting her to tell the difference between daylight by opening curtains, taking her outside for fresh air. At night, dim the lights, read her a story, give her a bath to calm her and be sure not to have a lot of noisy distractions.

She wakes many times to eat, I take it? As long as her little body needs to eat, she will wake. You can't get her into a sleep pattern yet, but be sure to only get her out of her crib at night to eat, not to play or cuddle, or you will start setting a pattern of her waking constantly for other things. As her growth pattern slows, she will need less food during the night and will settle into longer sleep cycles. It may never be 8 hours though....all babies are different.

It varies. Each child is different. I heard that when a child starts solids they'll sleep through the night. Well that didn't work for me b/c my daughter slept through the night up until she started solids and has waken up every night since then and she's 18 months now.
I've since learned that if your child sleeps fairly well until you start them on solids then you should wait another month before trying again because it means their stomachs aren't ready to handle solids.
I've read that by one year they should be sleeping through the night. But keep in mind each child is different.

She is trying to double her birthweight by 6 mos!

It's normal for her to wake at night for the entire first year.

Technically, 5 hours is "sleeping through the night."

It depends. My son used to do that till he was 2, and my daughter till she was 4 months.
