It is a know fact that sleep regenerates the body. I suppose that this is why babies grow with sleep..... as our cells do.

Not a dumb question as these other morons might suggest. Everyone needs sleep to allow their bodies to recouperate. Babies appear to sleep more because they sleep when they feel like it. Several small sleeps a day is actually the best sleep pattern for a person and it helps babies minds to develop quickly. Einstein and Newton also followed this sleep pattern through most of their lives. Unfortunately the rest of us can rarely afford this luxury.

Sleep well!

we all need sleep, im quite tired now, but the reason why babies need sleep to grow is because generally when you are asleep this gives the body time to do its reparing and growing etc..thats when cells divide to make growth happen.

They are tired!! During a sonogram, they let you listen to the baby's heartbeat. It is like 2 times faster than ours, making them need to sleep twice as much we do. That is also why they have to eat so often. Their bodies are adjusting to the change in atmospheres. They need lots of rest.

It's the human way. When we sleep our body rests and cells grow and are repaired. For instance, when we sleep, our open sores grow scabs to keep the wounded area safe. Pimples grow overnight and when they are ready, they go down overnight, too.

Not only do babies need sleep , but we all actually rejuvenate during sleep and btw burn more calories than any other time..our healing hormones kick into gear during sleep and we actually fight off diseases.we also regenerate bone and muscle tissue...this is why you should only work out every Other day...let your body readjust to the positive changes.

they don't need sleep to grow, babies and young adults etc, are growing all the time and so are adults in some ways.

sleep is needed to rest and recuperate the body, but not exactly a necessity to grow.

because kids spend their first 3 years in a period of rapid growth and sleep helps them to do this as the brain can concentrate solely on growing instead of babbling, staring adoringly at you etc
