Most of the politicians we have in the Federal Gov today are lifers. Is this helping us or hurting us? If you think it's bad - how do you propose to fix it? Term limits? Seriously limiting contributions or cutting them off entirely? Taking any and all profit incentive out of politics? If you think it's good - why?

At the time the people who went to congress was farmers, shop keepers and others from this great land. They were called statesmen. They did it for free. At this time we have Drs. and Lawyers. They got a raise this year that was equal to what people make on minimum wage. Then they refused to raise the minimum wage. This is an outrage but many people do not even grasp this idea of the rich helping the rich at the expense of the poor. This is only one example there are many others.
In answer to your question, Pro politicians is what is wrong with this country. How to fix it is vote. Get other to vote, let your voice be heard through the state legislators all the way to Washington. I am mad as hell and I want to do something. This is the way to channel this anger in a positive way.

In real life situations life is not digital. You can not see it as black or white, good or bad. There can shades of good and bad in a person just as we have Grey color. As a class most politicians tend to get clubbed as opportunists, grabbers, turn coats and so on.While it is true in some cases it is not so in case of most. It is important to have limitation on terms like say three terms. There should be thorough audit/financial checks on funds with in their control. We can not take away profit initiative totally. This will cause disinterest and persons with good, innovative ideas won't come forward.

Someone once said you get the government you deserve.

Think about it.

When you are willing to let others take command without any real checks or balances, then you can't complain about their leadership.
