I have been given two fur stoles but they are hand made and I'm not sure what type of fur they are. They are both completely different

It will be hard to identify, but if red, could be fox, grey, minx, or tortoise shell, cat.

Any furrier (Fur Coat Sales Store) should be able to assist you...there aren't many of these left due to the Animal Rights Activists but there should be at least one store in your area somewhere or even on the net that you can provide pics for and they can tell with reasonable certainty what the fur is.

You will probably have to supply other details such as the texture (ultra soft, course, wirey) etc., length of fur, color, any noticeable markings etc. if you are going via the net because sometimes pics won't tell the entire story.

If they were handmade, they were likely made from a full coat at one time...if the fur is quite short, brownish (dark or lighter) it's most likely mink. If it's longer, soft but not extremely so...it is possibly fox and can be a brownish, greyish or whitish with a blue tinge. Most likely however, it is mink but that's just a guess as it would be easier to create a stole from mink than from fox.

A furrier can assist you fully...good luck

a protracted time in the past we've been dependant on fur to maintain us heat. Now there is merely no excuse while there are fairly some selections. i've got faith that they ought to be made unlawful. Why ought to harmless animals be cruelly overwhelmed in hassle-free terms for the kind industry? fairly some ferrets are killed to make a single coat so except the beef of the animal is likewise being eaten then that's wasteful and harsh to apply them for his or her coats.

Stroke them. If they purr - they are pusscats.

If not - wear them next time you go to a farm - if they catch a chicken - they're fox.
