Boo did it. The sheriff decided to protect Boo's privacy by reporting that Bob Ewell fell on his knife. This way Boo wouldn't have to be in the public spotlight for saving Jem and Scout.

It was Boo Radley, and, now remember, it's been 5 years since I read it, but doesnt it state that quite clearly? I dunno...my sister asked me the same question, and she just finished reading it. Oh well, hope I helped
