In addition to the Microsoft way of doing it you may like to use Spybot Search & Destroy, which in the 'advanced' mode has a 'Secure Shredder'.

Download it via download.com (amongst others) & the run update. Immunise your system & run Spybot to rid you of any of that sort of crap.

The go to 'advanced' mode & in the drop down section to the left of the screen you will see 'tools' listed open it up & go to templates in the main screen.

Then click on the down arrow & you will have 3 options...choose them all, then hit 'Chop Away' (bottom right). Confirm your decision & sit back. It will take a few minutes the first time but gets quicker as you do it more frequently.

At the top of your screen you should see your menu bar:

File Edit View Favorites Tools Help

Choose tools

go to internet options (should be at the bottom of the list)

clear your history
&
delete your cookies

You need to clear the history.

Click the web address bar so that everything is highlighted and hit delete.

open the internet explorer----->tools--->internet options you'll get a window just click delete history
