Walmart has CatchMaster brand sticky traps, you hide them under furniture and behind desks and the spiders walk onto them and get stuck, then other spiders come to feed on them and they get stuck...you'd think they'd learn. They work pretty well. I solved a bad brown recluse problem with them.
Additionally, I bought a can of spider killer and used only on the outside of the house around windows, doors, vents to under the house if any and any opening where pipes go in. But as I said earlier, this was for Brown Recluse spiders which are very poisonous and tend to hang out in your bed, in clothes and several other inconvenient spots. Their bites are severe and cause huge open wounds which can take months to heal...look up photos on google. They are some nasty little spiders.

This is pretty indirect, but I have found that spiders like dusty places. Ergo, the less dust in the house or basement, the fewer spiders. If you have a basement, try putting insulation under the floors of the house. This discourages spiders from coming into the house from the basement.

A Broom with a wooden handle.

When it is the economical approach that you seek, always go for the broom. A good one can be had for about $ 5 and it should last for at least 5 years. No other product comes to mind that will do the job and last that long.

(now i understand ... your ? through me. look up "botanical pesticides" or "botanical" , please read label this group is safe around food stuff and people... it varies with application, wet/dry/ residue if you are having problems with spiders inside then there is an underlaying problem , spiders eat other insects and so you have a large infestation of another critter.

foggers are usually safe follow label.. you have to leave, turn off all pilot lights ect.. some people even turn off the main power to their house . set on paper release...wait.. then air out 9don't stay inside as you are airing out the house.. then wipe down all areas mild soap read label..
lastly remember that spiders (house type) are your friends.. go to library site find picture of the type that u have.. read up

This may sound like a very weird answer, but i have put Joy dishwashing liquid in a spray bottle and killed spiders and wasp. It worked for me. And they never come back.

DONT KILL SPIDERS please.
just pop them outside.
there is a spider catcher avaiable from Lakeland plastics that is very effective if you cant stand to sweep them onto a dustpan or otherwise pick them up.

Spiders eat all those nasty flies and bugs
