Trust your instincts. Instincts are there fora reason. If you can do it and really want to test him, ask him something about one of the negative incidents and see what the answer is.
If you haven't seen this person for 20 years, most likely you can go for another 20 or 30 years without him in your life.

In all likelihood.. he is the same person.. I have had VERY BAD memories of a number of high school students(classmates of mine when I went to High school) I detested them then because of their haughtiness and proudness, etc. I have been invited many times to go to class reunions but have refused and finally sent a letter to the organizer to not ask me again. I explained that I was considered dirt when I was in high school because I was one of the POOREST people there and they all made fun of me.. SO. WHY would I want to go back and have those memories revived. I have made something of myself and the others were alcoholics, in jail, or whatever.. I should go back and faunt them but I will never go for a class reunion

I had something like that happen once. These 3 kids, when I first moved to VA, I was 14. They gave me hell in 9th and 10th grade, it was horrible. It got to a point I didn't want to go to school anymore. I'd cry myself to sleep at night, I was depressed all the time. I tried to kill myself.
After I got into 11th grade, I had made a few select friends and I was doing much better. But after I had graduated high school and I was working, one of them, the worst offender of the three (two were boys and one was a girl) came into my job one night. And it was very awkward because I remembered him. I wasn't rude or anything, I served him his food and was very polite. But as he was leaving, he tried to talk to me by saying "Hey, do you remember me? We had science class together in 9th grade."
And I replied "Yes, I do remember you. You and your friends made my life hell. I hated you then, and I hate you still. Have a nice night."
Maybe it was wrong of me, but if I saw him today, I still wouldn't speak to him. I'm the kind of person that once you cross me, that's it. Even if later on the person changes, I will always be wary because of how they treated me before.

If you feel he is the same person... don't let him into your life now. You had no choice at 11, you have a choice now. Even if he's your boss at work.... look for a new job! Even if he isn't the same person... he makes you feel badly! There are just tooooooo many people out that that you can feel good about!!!

Drop it! There are lots of "real world" concerns
to think about in your life. Don't become obsessed by something that "might have been!"

Why pursue that person, avoid them. End of story, move on.
