actually leopard geckos are nocturnal ... try a standings day gecko you cant handle them much though or they drop thier tail.

most geckos in the pet trade today have been captive bred for many generations (yes i know there are still a few wild caught but that is not the vast majority). These animals have been bred in captivity to be kept in captivity and do not poses allot of the biological defenses for it to be safe to return many of them to the wild. All it takes is one diseased captive to be released and it can effect an entire wild population.
on another note most geckos in the united states pet trade are not from the united states and nothing good has ever come from releasing an introduced species in to a foreign population. just look at how screwed up the Florida everglades are from introduced species and you will see what I'm talking about... not only is releasing captive animals in my opinion morally wrong but it is dangerous to the natural enviorment...
in other words dont answer questions if you dont know what your talking about, it just makes you look stupid

You should get a Leopard Gecko.
They are from the desert and make great pets. They stay relatively small and are pretty active but not too much.
you can get them at most pet stores and you can find a bunch of info on the internet about them.
You can even order some online to get shiped to you.
I love my Leopard gecko!

I live in a place where I see geckos roaming free everywhere. I think that is how they want to be. They are not domestic animals. I don't think you should have one for a pet. It will be happier free.
