I think the advantages of each are so different, its hard to compare the two. I think there are more choices today, but few people make good choices.

The social mores and family values of the past seem to have made a better life style in view of the vast number of single-parent households and neighborhoods frought with insecurity and the need for gates.

work like older ones - no stress, not much competition, can earn quite a bit.
play like present ones i-pod, video games, extreme sports...

The old Wild West lifestyle seems to be my favorite - ride your horse, eat beans... dance to country music... make love to your wife and take the family to church on Sunday...
