Here's my opinion: according to what I read in the medical literature, there is little or no evidence that circumcision prevents any sort of infection. You should talk to a doctor or do your own research about this before you accept as "fact" that circumcision prevents infections.
Second, if you're going to do it, it would have been best to have done it EARLY. Our son was circumcised on Day 2...he'll never remember it.
That being said, if you're still intent on doing it...I would strongly recommend anesthesia. I can't see that being a painless procedure for some reason...

It should have been done when he was a baby. Now it will affect him. I think by now that decision is out of your hands and you should ask him whether or not he wants to have it done. And of course he will most likely say no to anything that is going to be painful for him. But I'm sure the other boys in school will start to mock him in gym class during the showers. Why did you wait so long?
Yes, they can numb the area but it will still be painful for several days and all they give is a local anesthetic; they don't knock boys out for it. Yes it is better for him to have it done. Take him to a urologist and see what he says about it.

You son was created perfect - do not mutilate him!!!! There is NO medical reason to do this to him. It is a myth that circumcision prevents infections. It will be very psychologically damaging to him to have it done now, and when he is older and becomes sexually active, it will decraese his pleasure (and his wife's). Leave your son's perfectly-formed body intact!!

You really should have had it done when he was still an infant. The younger the better. I guess at this point I would let him and his doctor decide what is best for him at this point.
Have a nice day!

Perhaps you need to let your son decide!
I struggle to understand why anyone would want to subject their child to the risks of an unnecessary anaesthetic just 'in case' something happens in the future.
Are you going to extend the same approach to crossing the road; driving a car; riding a horse; swimming in the sea etc etc.
All of these are surely more risky than the theoretical risk of 'maybe' getting an infection.
I have come across very few males, in a professional sense, (uncircumcised) who have an infection.

well since you waited so long, it's a tough call now. I personally reccommend it, but many people don't. Keep this in mind though, the older you are, the rougher it is.
But yes, unlike babies, they'll do it under some level of anesthesia now.

For baby it's better before 2 months as they not active yet. For older(boy), after they stop using diapers because it take a long time to heal or infection because of wetness(using diaper). Go ahead and do it now. I recommended.

Let him decide on his own. If he has foreskin problems, such as it is too tight, as I know this is quite common, then it would be ok medically, but otherwise, it should have no health risk to keep it, or it wouldn't be there in the first place. Just make sure he knows how to wash it properly, and there should be no problem.

Usually it's done close to after birth, but since you waited so long, wait till he's 16 and you won't have any trouble out of him with girls until he's out of the house.

When ever your son is ready, like 9 to 11 years old. I had my son circumcised at age 10.
