The shape is unimportant if the envelope weighs more than one ounce. If the whole item, envelope included, weighs less than 6 ounces, then you need $1.59 total postage. If the envelope puts it even slightly over six ounces, then the proper postage is $1.83. It doesn't matter how MANY stamps you use as long as they add up to at least enough postage.

If you are unsure of the weight, take it to any post office - they will weigh it and tell you how much the postage is.

depends on a lot of things... a square envelope is more expensive then a rectangle. and are you sending the envelope from the US to the US or are you sending it internationally. Flat rate envelopes are aviable at the post office... those are the ones where you pay something like 4$ and then you can put as much as you want into the envelope and they wont care about the weight. because of all the ifs ands or buts... it can be easier to go to the post office. if you really dont want to go... put 5 stamps on it and you should be fine.
