Neither answer is right. It was in a semi-competetive friendly in a tournament called ´Le Tournoi´ and the match took place on 3rd June 1997. Think it was in Nantes.
Tournament involved England, Italy, Brazil and France playing on a league basis. Englnad topped the group with 6 points and won.

it wasnt a confederation cup!!! it was a Friendly right before France98! i was 12 when i saw magic on tv it seemed as if the ball was possesed or something but i couldnt believe my eyes!
