What happens if I just stop taking them?

You can expect the hot flashes to return. You should talk with your Dr. about trying different meds or adjusting your dose. I am 11 weeks post-hyst and have tried several different HRT's and have finally ended up on Enjuvia. Here is a wonderful site you should visit - www.hystersisters.com. There is an amazing amount of info on HRT on there as well as an article entitled "Too Much Estrogen, Too Little Estrogen". You can contact me privately if you need more info. I hope this is helpful and wish you the best in finding a HRT that will work for you.
Good Luck!

Ahhh, HRT! When you stop it you will be exactly where you were when you started it...nice eh? And the other stuff is from the HRT....AND I assume you are taking a conjugated estrogen say Premarin for example; that stands for:
PREgnant
MARes
urINe
They keep the mares pregnant , on as little water as possible to sustain life(to concentrate their urine) and kill the foals..Sorry that would not make me feel better.

I keep posting this but go to powersurge.com there is a lot of helpful menopause stuff in there. Perimenopause info is what made me get on the net 10 years ago...still waiting for menoSTOP!
Good luck.

I would go to the doctor and make sure you don't have anything underlying the weight gain and bloating.
As i'm sure you are aware of the problems that HRT can induce, cancers, etc...
Then ask them the best way to back off the medications so that you don't have a rebound effect.
It is different for everyone, but you will rebound the other way if you just "stop" them.

HRT should be taken for limited amounts of time due to risk factors... diet and exercise helps. NO you don't have to join a gym!!
