As good as the Ventures are, the original version by the Chantays is by far the best ever done. But, what do YOU think?

I would have to say the Chantays simply because I like the original versions of songs better than the remakes.Just seems to me the song loses something in the remake.Don't get me wrong the Ventures were a great instrumental group and I have there original 331/3 albums in my collection. Wipe out by the Surfaries would be another song hard to duplicate as well as the original :)

Considering the methods of music collection and recording from those early days, we probably will never really experience the true sounds.
But I say Ventures, as I have a fond memory of my favorite uncle's 8-track tape machine playing nonstop in an endless loop so my brother could pick up by ear some of those guitar licks.
My brother wore that tape to shreds.
